Joe Bonamassa came by the studio today to play on a track for the new Mindi Abair album. I’ve known and had the pleasure of working with Joe and Kevin for over 10 years! The first album I engineered with Joe was Sloe Gin back in 2007. After assisting Kevin on a single mix, the first project we worked on together was Metallica “The Videos.”

Back at East West for Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers’ new album.

New BCC album is sounding amazing. Loaded in and setup at EastWest Studios on Tuesday, and already recorded 8 songs. 

Back in New Orleans to produce the latest creation from Cretus. Spent some time at The Parlor for initial tracking, and moved to a private facility for the finishing touches. Stay tuned for this release in 2017!

The new PAUL GILBERT album I Can Destroy is out today! This was a great project to record with Caveman! producing, and I had a blast with all involved. You can download it at iTunes and Amazon.com, and go toAllMusic to stream the album in it’s entirety.

I did a review for the Plugin Alliance Acme Audio Manufacturing Co. Opticom XLA-3 plugin and it’s amazing! It’s an optical compressor with three different response curves, and allows the use of tube saturation without compression.

Had a great time at NAMM this year. Got to talk with my friends at Solid State Logic, FXpansion, Audix, Phoenix Audio, and Darkglass Electronics. Also hung out with Neil Turbin of Anthrax fame, who I am currently doing some mixing for.

2015 was filled with awesome projects. Highlights included engineering #1 Billboard Blues artist Joe Bonamassa and PAUL GILBERT with Caveman! Kevin Shirley, producing Icelus and Josh LaCount, and mixing for Cretus and Supagroup. Looking forward to 2016!

Week one of the Paul Gilbert recording session in the books. Tracked 10 songs in 6 days with the Caveman producing. We will be headed back into the studio in a few weeks to complete the album so stay tuned!

Had a great time at the NAMM show this year. Caught up with old friends and saw some amazing gear…, not to mention one of the craziest bass guitars I’ve ever seen.

Had a great time at this years Pot Luck Conference! Always great to talk to and learn from fellow engineers and audio geeks. Got to catch up with Producer/ Engineer Andrew Scheps who I worked with a few years ago on a Gogol Bordello album.

I was back in The Cave today working on the new Jimmy Barnes and Mahalia Barnes and The Soul Mates albums with Kevin Shirley and this stuff is rockin!

This was a fun album to make. I engineered and co-mixed it alongside Kevin “Caveman” Shirley. Everything was tracked live in the studio and mixed on an SSL Duality at The Cave.

Had an awesome time recording Tracer.  They were recently awarded Best New Band by Classic Rock magazine. They sound like Queens of the Stone Age and Soundgarden had a badass kid together! Check out some behind the scenes footage.

A track I mixed has been chosen for the new Iron Man 3 trailer. Project was for Sencit Music, mixed by yours truly, produced by Mike Zarin, and composed by Joesph Trapanese. Click on the link under Recent Work to see it.

Saw this contest on Indaba Music and took a shot at the mix.  Listened to some New Orleans stuff for a while, and then dug in and I really had fun doing it. It did make me miss New Orleans though.

What an amazing week in the studio with Black Country Communion and producer Kevin Shirley.  We started on a Monday and had 10 songs recorded by Saturday.  A Rock Album indeed!

Just finished up engineering the new Beth Hart album @ Revolver.  This is a really cool album with amazing players.  New Joe Bonamassa album getting greats reviews and charting well in the states and in the U.K.  Congrats to the Caveman for more great productions.

The new Joe Bonamassa Live DVD comes out on March 12, from the Beacon Theatre in New York.  Awesome video with audio mixed in Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound by Kevin Shirley.  Guests included are Beth Hart, John Hiatt, and Paul Rodgers.

It took a while, but Iron Maiden live from Santiago is coming out in March. This is a great DVD filmed in Chile with a massive crowd, only Iron Maiden could draw.  New tracks from the Final Frontier performed for the first time on this tour.

Congratulations to Sencit Music on placing a cue I mixed in the War Horse trailer campaign. We recorded the strings and choir in Seattle last year, with music Produced by Mike Zarin and Composed by Joe Trapanese.
